Georgia is doing great at standing and can get into the standing position without pulling or holding onto anything. She's taken a couple of steps on her own but isn't officially walking. She gets excited when she stands by herself and claps to cheer herself on.

All that standing makes a girl tired.

Maximus has a wound on his leg that he won't stop licking. We've tried everything and it won't heal because he won't leave it alone. It's been 5 months so we finally resorted to putting a 5 gallon bucket on his head. We've had to do this before. The vet gave us the idea b/c the cones that they make for XL dogs are so wide that they run into everything.

Here he is waiting for scraps.

This weekend my sister and I drove to Des Moines for a wedding-- up and back in 1 day with 3 kids. The first hour wasn't too bad, the kids were happy and I just had a little headache.

We had planned on stopping in Lamoni for lunch but the kids were ready to get out of their car seats about 1/2 hour before we got to our destination. Georgia started crying and after about 10 minutes of that, Luke couldn't take it anymore and started crying. Riley's carseat straps were too tight and she wanted to get to where we were going.

We ate lunch, got back on the road and the kids slept for the next hour. The kids did well during the wedding but my head hurt so much during the reception that I tried to sleep it off in the car in the parking lot. By the time we got back in the car to drive home after the wedding, my head was pounding, Georgia was testing her voice by squealing over and over, and Luke was crying again. (He had put the wedding bubbles against his lips when he was blowing them and they burned his lips -- who would have guessed?) Riley was tired but couldn't sleep in her uncomfortable car seat and was scared in the dark in the back of the van so we road with the interior light on. My headache and nausia from the headache finally went away about 1/2 way home. This reminded me of a book I had when I was a kid called the Terrible, Awful, No Good, Very Bad Day. Fortunately, my sister and I were able to laugh at our situation.

Tell your mom to get a car with a DVD, it works wonders.
Georgia is going to be running before you know it.
