Things that are old:
- Georgia still requests cottage cheese at almost every meal.
- She still likes Noggin, reading books, and playing outside at every opportunity.
- She's still Daddy-crazy.
- We're still working on potty-training and it's been more and more successful lately.
- Georgia still loves finding and collecting pretty rocks.
Things that are new:
- Georgia now refers to her grandparents by name... Grandpa Bob, Grandpa Garland, Grandma Sarah and Grandma Cindy.
- She understands last names and that families have the same last name.
- She loves jumping, swimming, flying (running around with her arms out behind her).
- Georgia can now get undressed without help (one of the steps to potty-training).
- And thanks to Daddy, she likes chewing small pieces of gum and asks for it every day.
For her birthday we gave her a jigsaw puzzle. We gave it to her early since she's still young enough that she doesn't know the difference and because we figured she'll get several gifts at her pary. The Parents as Teachers educator said they recommend simple (4-6 piece) jigsaw puzzles at 36 months. That didn't seem like it would be enough of a challenge to keep Georgia entertained so we went with a 12 piece puzzle. We actually expected her to put it together right away, first try, based on how she's done with her other puzzles. But it was much more difficult than that. She was so excited to try it over and over but needed a LOT of help. By the 2nd night she had figured out which pieces went together but would get them turned the wrong way and couldn't get them linked. By the 4th night she put the puzzle together all by herself 3 times. She was SOOOOOOOOOOOO proud. I knew she'd be able to do it but what I was most impressed with was her determination. She never got mad or frustrated when she couldn't do it right or needed help. She seemed to be excited about the challenge. The harder the task, the greater the reward.
Speaking of hard tasks and great rewards...Ben just finished his 2nd trimester of Chiropractic school and ended up with eight A's and one B. I'll have to double check with him but before he took his last final he was 2nd in his class. So now that he's on break, he's working on a couple of construction jobs. His dad is staying with us and helping him get the jobs done. It's a nice opportunity for Georgia to get to know her "Iowa" grandpa better and vice versa.
We took Georgia's pictures last weekend. My friend from work was gracious enough to do these again for us and, as always, did a fantastic job.
